Three arrested in DJ death investigation

Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 16:30

THREE people have been arrested in connection with the death of up-and-coming Llanelli DJ Marcus Cleobury.

Two men and a woman were yesterday being quizzed by officers investigating the unexplained death at the weekend.

But the force was remaining tight-lipped about other aspects of the inquiry.

A police spokeswoman said: "Three people, including two males and one female are in custody at Llanelli Police Station, assisting police with their inquiries."

Mr Cleobury, of Penygraig, was found on Saturday morning in a lane behind Glanmor Road.

A post mortem has since been carried out by a Home Office pathologist in order to establish a cause of death, but no results have yet been published.

For four days residents have been left guessing as to who or what killed the 22-year-old, with various rumours circulating the town.

However, news of the arrests should reassure them that police have the matter in hand.

Meanwhile, tributes have continued to flood in to Mr Cleobury, with more than 150 people joining a dedicated tribute page on social networking website Facebook.

On it, Kat Roberts wrote: "It's so sad to have you taken from the world when there was so much left for you to do in it.

"Your passion for music, DJing, and your love of life always shone through in all that you did.

"Keep dancing and stomping and spinning those 'phat choons' matey! All my love, Kat."

And Eirwen Morris said: "Can't believe you have gone, we met only for a short time but you were such a lovely, handsome young guy.

"Those baby blue eyes would make any young female melt.

"I feel for your mother, who I know must be absolutely devastated that her boy has gone forever. Sleep well. Eirwen."

Vicky Clare Davies added: "Missing him already, can't quite grasp that he's gone. My thoughts are deeply with Beverly and his family. What a guy. I'll miss you bud. All my love, Vicky."

Appealing for help with its inquiry, a force spokeswoman said: "Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for information after the body of a man was found in a lane near Llanelli town centre on Saturday morning.

"The deceased had short, dark, hair and was wearing black Adidas tracksuit bottoms and a brown leather-style jacket."

Anyone with information regarding this investigation or who had contact with Marcus on Friday or Saturday should contact Llanelli police on 0845 330 2000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
